AgriSafe is a national, non-profit program that focuses on preventive health services and medical surveillance for farmers. Services include audiometry, spirometry, respirator fit testing, providing proper personal protective equipment, treatment of work injuries and illnesses, and education in preventing agricultural injuries and illnesses. AgriSafe-certified providers within Marshfield Clinic include Marshfield and Wausau Center Occupational Health Departments, Marshfield Center Allergy, Marshfield Center Infectious Disease and Marshfield Center Family Medicine. Specific training in agricultural medicine is generally not provided in a medical school curriculum. Because education is an integral part of the AgriSafe mission, Marshfield Clinic completed its third AgriSafe training course, broken into two parts in Marshfield. The course has been designed to train rural health care providers for diagnosis, treatment and prevention of agricultural occupational illnesses and injuries. It is intended for primary care physicians, residents, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses and other allied health professionals.
