The Center for Clinical Epidemiology and Population Health (CCEPH) welcomed Cody L. Goessl, Ph.D. as its first postdoctoral fellow through the Postdoctoral Fellowship Program in November 2019.
CCEPH Researchers Presented at IDWeek (October 2019)
Researchers from the Center for Clinical Epidemiology and Population Health (CCEPH) attended IDWeek in Washington D.C. from October 2 - 6, 2019. This year's theme was "Advancing Science, Improving Care". Epidemiologist Kayla Hanson, M.P.H. presented a poster titled "Uptake and Safety of the MMR Vaccine Among Adolescents and Adults in the Vaccine Safety Datalink".

CCEPH Scientist Receives 2019 Sebold Fellowship (September 2019)
The 2019 Gwen D. Sebold for outstanding research fellowship is being awarded to the Center for Clinical Epidemiology and Population Health (CCEPH) Scientist Huong McLean, Ph.D., M.P.H., on October 9, 2019. The Sebold Fellowship recognizes her vaccine research and leadership within MCRI including her management of the Summer Research Internship Program and mentoring of the program students.

CCEPH Director Presented on U.S. Vaccine Policy Development with Focus on Shingles Vaccine at Annual ACVR Conference (April 2019)
Center for Clinical Epidemiology and Population Health (CCEPH) Director Edward Belongia, MD, recently gave a plenary presentation at the Annual Conference on Vaccinology Research (ACVR), held in Baltimore, Maryland from April 3 - 5, 2019. Dr. Belongia served as Chair of the CDC ACIP Herpes zoster workgroup from 2014 - 2018. During that time, he led the workgroup evaluation of a new highly effective vaccine to prevent shingles and he contributed to the decision to make a preferential recommendation for that vaccine. His ACVR presentation discussed the ACIP approach to evaluating new vaccines and how the decision was made to make a preferential recommendation.
CCEPH Epidemiologist Presents Flu Vaccine Safety Study at CDC ACIP Meeting (February 2019)
Center for Clinical Epidemiology and Population Health (CCEPH) Epidemiologist James Donahue, D.V.M, Ph.D., M.P.H, recently presented a Vaccine Safety Datalink study of flu vaccine and miscarriage at the ACIP meeting in Atlanta, Georgia. The study provided reassuring news with no evidence of vaccine-related risk. The ACIP presentation was reported by STAT News and CNN.
MCRI to Participate in Long-Term Cancer Research (January 2019)
The Marshfield Clinic Research Institute (MCRI) participates with two other Midwestern Institutes in a prospective cancer cohort study. The research will investigate factors that influence the risk of developing or dying from different types of cancer.
