The Institute for Oral and Systemic Health (IOSH) will host a conference focused on diabetes and the importance of oral health. The conference will take place on Friday, October 10, 2014 in the Robert F. Froehlke Auditorium in the Melvin R. Laird Center for Medical Research in Marshfield, WI.

Since the beginning of modern healthcare, medicine and dentistry have existed as separate healthcare domains. However, recent research has shown an increased prevalence of gum disease among patients with diabetes, among other oral-systemic connections. IOSH was established earlier this year with the mission to lead and pave the future of integrating medical and dental care delivery and oral-systemic research.

The conference is intended for physicians, dentists, residents, nurse practioners, physician assistants, dental hygienists, and other allied health care professionals.
