Ms. Liebman has devoted her career to improving the health and safety of immigrant workers and families. Since 1999, she has served as Director of Environmental and Occupational Health at Migrant Clinicians Network, where she has established national initiatives to improve the recognition, management and prevention of environmental and work-related health. She oversees efforts involving research, programmatic interventions and policy. She has been a national leader in working to integrate occupational and environmental health into the community health worker model. She also is at the forefront of ongoing advocacy to ensure the protection of immigrant workers, promoting regulations such as the EPA Worker Protection Standard, spearheading policy initiatives within the American Public Health Association, and serving on a federal advisory committee to the EPA. Her programs have won several awards including the EPA Children’s Environmental Health Champion Award and the National Safety Council Research Collaboration Award, and in 2011, she received the Lorin Kerr Award, an American Public Health Association honor recognizing public health professionals for their dedication and sustained efforts to improve the lives of workers.
