Statement

Dr. McLean is an epidemiologist with focus on infectious diseases and vaccine effectiveness, immunogenicity, safety, promotion, and policy. The majority of her research is on influenza, addressing issues relating to prior vaccination history and vaccine effectiveness, both clinically and immunologically. Her research also includes promoting adolescent vaccinations and examining long-term immunogencity of measles, mumps, rubella (MMR) vaccine.
She directs the MCRI Summer Research Internship Program, a program that provides mentored, hands-on research experiences for undergraduate and graduate students.
From 2008-2012, Dr. McLean worked in the Division of Viral Diseases at CDC. She was involved in multiple studies and outbreak investigations for vaccine preventable diseases, served as a WHO consultant on polio eradication in Kenya, and served as the CDC secretariat for the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) work group on measles, mumps, and rubella vaccine.
