The New York Times addressed the cultural and safety aspects of young children doing farm work, “5-year-olds work farm machinery, and injuries follow (Jan. 29).” The story centers on a central Wisconsin farm family, and quotes National Farm Medicine Center Director Barbara Lee. The Farm Center worked with reporter Jack Healy beginning in December, providing context, statistics and contacts. Healy came to the Farm Center Jan. 11 to interview Dr. Lee.  Healy also tapped into Dr. Bryan Weichelt’s AgInjuryNews.org database for cases. Healy, based in Denver, said he wants to do more stories from this part of the country. The article is available online.
