George Taylor, DMD, MPH, DrPH is a professor and Associate Dean for Diversity and Inclusion at the University of California San Francisco, School of Dentistry. Dr. Taylor will be addressing the potential medical health cost savings by integrating oral healthcare for individuals with chronic medical conditions like diabetes and its complications
Objectives of this presentation include:
- Describe evidence from randomized clinical trials and investigations of administrative claims data regarding the effects of periodontal therapy on glycemic control in people with diabetes.
- Describe evidence regarding the association between periodontal therapy and medical care costs in patients with diabetes.
- Discuss challenges and opportunities for using administrative claims data to assess the relationship between oral health care and medical care costs in people with diabetes.
